In January 2021, the Biden-Harris administration introduced the Justice40 Initiative which directs 40% of the overall benefits of certain Federal investments go to  disadvantaged communities that are identified as marginalized, underserved, and overburdened by pollution. As of January 2023, new tools have been created to help identify these disadvantaged communities.

The Michigan Municipal League and Foundation want to ensure that Michigan is taking full advantage of the opportunities and resources offered by Justice40.
