The MML Foundation is helping Michigan communities tackle growing water infrastructure challenges by developing practical tools, resources, and funding strategies that support local leaders in meeting critical infrastructure needs.
Since 2022, the Foundation has led and supported innovative pilot programs designed to help communities navigate funding opportunities, comply with state and federal mandates, and build long-term plans for water infrastructure investments. Through partnerships with local governments, technical experts, and state agencies, this work has informed the development of resources that communities can use to secure funding, replace lead service lines, and strengthen essential water systems.
Featured resources include:
- MI Water Navigator: A Foundation-led pilot that assisted more than 174 communities in accessing water infrastructure funding and informed recommendations for improving statewide funding access.
- Lead Service Line Replacement Best Practices Playbook: Developed through a Foundation-led pilot with local partners, this resource shares proven strategies to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and accelerate lead service line replacement efforts.
- MI Funding Hub: A free statewide resource created from lessons learned through Foundation pilot programs to help communities identify grants, build funding capacity, and access infrastructure funding opportunities.
Through research, innovation, and partnership, the MML Foundation is working to ensure Michigan communities have the resources they need to invest in safe, reliable, and sustainable water infrastructure.
