Project Location:
Grandmont Rosedale, Detroit
Briefly Describe Your Project Idea:
A Night at The Coloring Museum is a creative space for residents to interact with art by coloring transitional wall murals focusing on the positive representation of minorities while learning about local artists who created the murals. Creative endeavors like coloring are known to have many beneficial effects, including stress and anxiety reduction. This event will take place in the Grandmont Rosedale Grand River Workplace working with the Grandmont Rosedale Community Association.
Why does your community need this project?
Grandmont Rosedale is starving for more creative events, especially events that support the (fine) arts. Young minorities that aspire to be artists need more representation in the community. The Coloring Museum pop-up is a twist on how you can take an everyday hobby and transform it into a career.
What do you hope to achieve through this project?
I hope that local minority artists that participate in this event get more exposure, commission job opportunities, and a larger social media following.
