Briefly describe your project idea:
Stockbridge Township and the Stockbridge Harvest Fest Committee took over the festival in 2022 and was able to revitalize a once loved community event. As the festival continues to grow, the committee desires to expand and diversify the event by bringing in a variety of artists and performers.
How will you be involved in this project? Who will you worth with?
The festival will have events for the entire family. This event will include venders on town square, a 5K run, bands throughout town, food trucks, a community wide yard sale, a candy scramble, a black smith demonstration, hayride shuttle to different stops in town, children’s activities, bonfires, a tractor show and much more. The festival has partnered with the Stockbridge community schools, local businesses, organizations, and first responders to engage each unique aspect of our village. The marketing plan for the festival will reach out to the Stockbridge school district and beyond with a 25-mile radius including, social media, print, TV and radio advertising.
Describe the artist’s or artists’ work. This is not about credentials—what do they do as an artist?
Ring Star Studio performs aerial silks routines which are a combination of performance, dance, and acrobatics using specialized suspended silk fabric.

Why does your community need this project?
The festival is an excellent opportunity to highlight all that the Stockbridge area has to offer; celebrating the town’s rich farming heritage, area businesses, charitable and civic organizations, and future possibilities by improving the wellbeing and growth of the community and the town’s commerce. This grant will add an enriching experience for the people of Stockbridge and surrounding communities and broaden the cultural experience of the Harvest Festival.
What do you hope to achieve through this project?
The Stockbridge Harvest Festival will highlight the rich heritage of the community and all it has to offer. The addition of a variety of artistic performers will add diversity and broaden the cultural experience. With the funds from this grant, families will be able to come to the festival and enjoy the performances from each of these artists without cost. It will provide an artistic experience that is unlike anything our community has conducted before.
How do you plan to spend the $5,000 microgrant?
The microgrant will fund each performing artist. There are eight different artists booked for the festival. The grant will be spent on performance fees, equipment, and permits.
What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more. Please approximate the in-kind value if possible.
The Village of Stockbridge and Stockbridge Township are partnering financially to make this possible along with. local businesses such as Stockbridge Bowl, The Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce, the GU Crew, The Stockbridge Area Senior Center, The Tin Roof, Jiffy, and Positively Chiropractic.
Will your project require special permits from the community you are in? For example, anything that requires a street closure or installing a permanent art piece will likely require a special permit from your local governing body or zoning board. If your project is funded, the MML Foundation is happy to help you navigate that process. Please note that all applicants must obtain any necessary permits for their projects, if selected for funding. *
