Briefly describe your project idea including your role and any project partners.
Silhouettes of Franklin’s historic figures with short stories is to be placed in front of historic buildings and locations throughout the Village Mainstreet area. Artist Zach Curtis to create the art silhouettes; the Franklin Historical Society and Main Street to provide the historic information.
How do you plan to spend the $5,000 microgrant? Please list and explain the items, services, fees, expertise, etc. that you plan to purchase.
Eight to ten artistic silhouettes of historic figures from the past 200 years of Franklin, the estimate for the cost of the artwork is $7500. The cost to install is estimated at $2500. The Village is celebrating its bicentennial starting in 2024. The Village will be covering the remainder of the costs over the microgrant.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Why does your community need this project?
The Village of Franklin is celebrating our bicentennial starting in December of 2023, and this project will be part of the kickoff. The Franklin Historical Society is planning tours of the Village, and this project with bring to life the historical figures of its past. Also, the silhouette art pieces will remain permanent long after the entire year of celebrations to showcase Franklin’s past.
How will you engage your community in this project?
Marketing of the project to the Village of Franklin and surrounding communities will be done by The Village of Franklin, Main Street Franklin, and the Franklin Historical Society. The three groups are conducting a full calendar of events that will be marketed via social media, Weekly Village newsletters, all three websites, along with many other community groups and posters and flyers in the Village business storefronts.
What do you hope to achieve through this project?
To create art pieces in the Village Main Street area that makes it more attractive and lively and provides the Franklin residents and visitors a historic perspective of Franklin’s history.
How will the project celebrate the community’s diversity? Diversity can include different ages, races, cultures, socio-economic statuses, abilities, and more.
Part of this project is going to celebrate its history in taking part in the underground railroad and its strong Jewish history.
What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more. Please approximate the in-kind value if possible.
The Franklin Historical Society is leading the bicentennial committee, which all of the Village groups are supporting. The Village has committed support of funding and its staff for this project and the bicentennial;
