Island City History Hunt
Where will your project take place?
Eaton Rapids
Briefly Describe Your Project Idea:
A point to point treasure hunt that includes the culture and history of the island city. We will work with the city and and downtown district authority. The idea is to challenge a diversity of community members with public art. The murals and sculptures will be educational and also as maps.
Why does your community need this project?
Eaton Rapids currently has segregated community centers for seniors and teens and depending on your faith, 2 churches. This leaves the rest of the community with no good way to reach across these deep rooted borders. A second need in the community is outdoor activities that are accessible to all people with different abilities. The third need is to bring local pride and heritage to our town through education.
What do you hope to achieve through this project?
The hope is to bridge the gaps in community segregation by highlighting and celebrating our diversity. Community members will need to rely on each other for answers to the clues. With the local education of our community this project will followed by town pride. Also making public art in town will bring color and innovation.
