Our current project partners include: Henry Ford Health, Pepsi
How will you engage your community in this project?
This event is being planned solely due to community desire and input. Residents expressed a desire to have basketball and healthy-lifestyle events and programming.
How will the project celebrate the neighborhood’s diversity? Diversity can include different ages, races, cultures, socio-economic statuses, abilities, and more.
We have intentionally planned a three-day event that invites youngsters, elders, middle-aged and both women, men and gender fluid individuals to come out and have fun! We have gender neutral and specific events that are offering opportunities of play and fun for people of all walks of life.
How do you plan to spend the $1,000 microgrant? Please list and explain the items, services, fees, expertise, etc. that you plan to purchase.
The $1,000 will go towards purchasing supplies for the event.

ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S NEEDS
Why does your neighborhood need this project?
Our community has gone without a basketball court and playground for more than 15 years. Late last year, it all changed with the completion of CURTIS JONES PARK. HOOPFEST provides residents to come out and celebrate the park and all it has to offer!
What do you hope to achieve through this project? Be as specific as possible!
The biggest thing we hope to accomplish through this project is community unity. We have planned elements to bring out people of all ages, races, ability levels, and more.
Secondly, we hope to accomplish the encouragement of residents to enjoy healthy lifestyles by getting people moving and enjoying a beautiful park within their neighborhood.
What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more.
We have experience putting on successful neighborhood community events. We’ve hosted events since 2019.
Additionally, our Director of Programming has experience hosting fundraising basketball tournaments, as she first started hosting them in 2012.
Finally, we have a collection of partners who will help us ensure that this event is executed at the highest level!
