With this grant, NCBCA alongside a group of residents will transform an empty lot into a tranquil, creative greenspace that will act as a Community Hub for residents to gather and unite in pride and inspiration. We will achieve this through the cleaning and clearing of the lot, installing site amenities and lastly the installation of an alley activation, seating, and picnic area. The area will feature new permanent corn hole game boards and interactive play opportunities, as well as lighting,

How will you engage your community in this project?

We will engage our community by involving our Block Club members, NPO’s and other D3 constituents and local business and churches.
By having a resident-driven process that engages the entire population of our area and identifying what they love most about their community, what future they want for it, and how to achieve it.

How will the project celebrate the neighborhood’s diversity? Diversity can include different ages, races, cultures, socio-economic statuses, abilities, and more.

This project will celebrate this neighborhood’s diversity by ensuring that our outreach bridges across cultural boundaries, and being inclusive in marketing and programming. We strive to ensure that our programming represent the diverse cultures of our servicing population. We believe that we should continuously strive to increase our understanding and respect for our beneficiary’s needs and values when delivering community development initiatives.

How do you plan to spend the $1,000 microgrant? Please list and explain the items, services, fees, expertise, etc. that you plan to purchase.

We plan on spending the microgrant for the purchase of the alley clearing services, equipment and supplies.

ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S NEEDS

Why does your neighborhood need this project?

Our neighborhood suffers from lack of revitalization funds and lack of investment. Never-the-less, our grassroots work and efforts are critical to the ongoing vibrancy of the community. By supporting resident priorities, together we can create a stronger community with this grant.

What do you hope to achieve through this project? Be as specific as possible!

This project seeks to foster an environment where all neighbors can be a part of a neighborhood revitalization effort from start to finish and realize their and the community’s true potential.

What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more.

In partnership with residents, neighbors, businesses, and community organizations, NCBCA seeks to widen pathways so that all residents have a greater opportunity to participate in and benefit from community growth.
