Rachel’s Notes

Reviewed on 4.11.23. Confirmed member status. Not a non profit yet, more of an informal group, but it does exist. No cost to attend but has to register for the free food. Funds would be spent on DJ/music. Would have to work with Shari on how to route payment. http://www.mycitymag.com/sarvis-park-neighborhood-association-a-model-for-community-healing/

ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S NEEDS

Why does your neighborhood need this project?

We live in a community that has been devastated but not only the latter events but VIOLENCE in general. We have been in a state of emergency in this matter recently. Therefore Sarvis Park NA likes to have events that encourage positive family engagement so that we can get to know one another.

What do you hope to achieve through this project? Be as specific as possible!

We need to be able to resolve conflicts with a more civil outcome other that someone being shot and dying. We encourage togetherness and PEACE in all we do and we are Pro-Life and we want all our kids to grown past 21 and not have to even worry about that.

What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more.

This is an event that we have done the past 2 years. We have our DJ locked in for the date. We have plenty of Caterers and Food trucks to choose from. Our plan includes to buy $1000 worth of meals and provide tickets to the people who register at the event. They can then take the ticket and redeem it for a free meal. We are seeking other funds to cover the other costs. We have a roster of entertainers which allows us to book out as we need. Again this isn’t something that we are new to but something we are definitely true to. We would like to use the funds that your grant would provide for the most important part of the event the ENTERTAINMENT and the DJ. There is no charge to attend, have to register to get the free meal.
