d. We partner with the Greenville Rotary Club for this event, each year. We donate 60% of our net profit back to the Greenville Rotary Club
How will you engage your community in this project?
Tivoli Gardens becomes a meeting place for community members of all ages this year. Each year, many Greenville High School alumni hold reunions where they will meet up at Tivoli Gardens. The tent is open on both Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19 from 11am-midnight. Performances include: two local dance groups, Danish Festival Big Band, local bands, local praise choir, and a grand finale band each night. We have entertainment to draw in the entire community. We advertise all over social media, local newspaper, local/state television. The community looks forward to this portion of the festival every year.
How will the project celebrate the neighborhood’s diversity? Diversity can include different ages, races, cultures, socio-economic statuses, abilities, and more.
The Danish Festival’s mission is “To host a festival that celebrates the homecoming of family and friends and our area’s Danish Heritage.” We gather each year to celebrate our area’s Danish culture, but welcome everyone, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, etc. Along with the Tivoli Gardens Beer and Entertainment Tent, we also have the following events downtown Greenville: Artisan Fair & Boutique with over 150 vendors, Food Court, DF-WAN MarketPlace & Food Court, free children’s events, three parades, fireworks, drive-in movie, Danish Dash 5K, and more.
How do you plan to spend the $1,000 microgrant? Please list and explain the items, services, fees, expertise, etc. that you plan to purchase.
The $1,000 microgrant would be used towards the entertainment and bands that we have perform.

ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S NEEDS
Why does your neighborhood need this project?
The Danish Festival is the largest annual event in the area. The economic impact in the community during the weekend is unmatched throughout the rest of the year. This is the only beer and entertainment tent held in Greenville every year. It provides the community with something to look forward to.
What do you hope to achieve through this project? Be as specific as possible!
While our main goal is for the community to come together and celebrate our Danish heritage and culture, we use this event as one of our fundraisers for the entire Festival. 60% of net profit is donated to the Greenville Rotary Club (which they use to give back to the community) and the Danish Festival uses the money towards providing other free events throughout the weekend.
What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more.
Our Tivoli Gardens Director and Entertainment Director have been part of the Danish Festival for years. The Rotary Club has been partnering with us for the past several years and we work together really well to put on this community event. Our board of directors meets year round to plan our festival. We also receive a sponsorship from Alliance Beverage, which covers a portion of our beverage expenses. This is a well established event in Greenville and one that the community is proud of and looks forward to each year.
