The Glenside Neighborhood Association (GNA) hosts several events each year with hundreds of attendees from around the city. ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S NEEDS

Why does your neighborhood need this project?

The Glenside Neighborhood is the home to McGraft Park. This is our only neighborhood park and is the living hub of our community. It is a welcoming park that attracts visitors from several neighborhoods for various events.. . .

What do you hope to achieve through this project? Be as specific as possible!

Continued from questions above: Over the past 20+ years the City of Muskegon’s Parks have been underfunded and is now in the process of updating the Parks & Recreation Master Plan to include major renovations such as reopening restrooms and updating playgrounds. We hope that in collaboration with the Parks & Recreation Master Plan this community interest project will bring new life to the bandshell and in return bring more and more community members to the park as it continues to improve.

With the mural on the bandshell we hope to bring art to McGraft Park that will extend the cultural experience in Glenside.

What resources do you already have to make this project successful? Resources could include things like time, partners, expertise, donated goods/materials/space, matching funds, and more.

The Glenside Neighborhood has active and engaged residents who care deeply about their neighborhood and who will rally around a mural project that will enhance their park. The City of Muskegon’s Parks Dept. will also be an active partner in this project, able to lend assistance and guidance as needed. We are fortunate to have the talented gifts of a well known mural artist available to us, and we will be soliciting local businesses for art and painting supplies.
