Leadership Hamtramck is a local leadership development program that encourages emerging leaders to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & challenges in the city from current leaders
A-A project with a series of 4-5 events that occur once a month from August to December
B-Participants will visit various leaders & locations in Hamtramck
C&D-The community is the classroom. Partners include the Hamtramck Historical Society, City Hall, businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, etc
How will you engage your community in this project?
In addition to participant engagement, community leaders from various sectors will share their perspectives about Hamtramck. This will help participants to see current issues from a different vantage point, and, ideally, how they can contribute toward solutions.
Imagine how a program like this will encourage and inspire emerging leaders to contribute towards the betterment of the city. The outcomes of this project will take different forms but some may include participants serving on non-profit boards, city boards and commissions, starting a new non-profit, and running for school board or city council. This city needs wise leaders at every level in every sector and this program will transform participants and instill confidence to make good decisions and help the community flourish.
How will the project celebrate the neighborhood’s diversity? Diversity can include different ages, races, cultures, socio-economic statuses, abilities, and more.
The residents of Hamtramck are incredibly diverse and as a result, the applicants of this project will celebrate the diversity of Hamtramck. Participants will need to be a Hamtramck resident. A diversity of perspectives will be shared as leaders from various sectors (political, religious, business, educational, non-profit, etc) will share their perspectives on issues they see in Hamtramck.
How do you plan to spend the $1,000 microgrant? Please list and explain the items, services, fees, expertise, etc. that you plan to purchase.
With an initial estimated budget of approximately $4,000, this microgrant will offset expenses related to speaker honorariums (approximately $1,000), travel (approximately $300), food (approximately $1500), and marketing and gift bag expenses (approximately $1,200).
Will your project require special permits?
No
Are you the owner of the property where the project/event will occur?
