The annual Convention is the League’s largest event of the year and draws members from all over Michigan to learn about important changes to regulations, share lessons and experiences with colleagues, and explore the host city. This 3-day event leaves League members inspired to enhance their own communities and in turn, all of Michigan.
The mobile workshops at Convention will allow members to experience Detroit’s revitalization firsthand. The League is leading tours through Detroit’s downtown, neighborhoods, and other newly activated public spaces. Local leaders are exposed to new approaches for community building that they can take home to continue improving their own communities.
The MML Foundation works to support local officials in their pursuit of technical training and professional development through scholarships. In fact, one member will be attending this year’s convention thanks to the John Barr Leadership Education Scholarship. You can help support more local leaders while you’re at Convention by attending our annual fundraising reception, the Motor City Friendly. Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships to train local officials and for students pursuing careers in local government.
You can also support current and future leaders by making a contribution to the MML Foundation today.
