Q&A with Bridge Builder Horizon Bank

The Bridge Builders Microgrants program is fortunate to have generous support from its funders. Our funders share our values about the power of community, the importance of bringing people together, and the confidence that communities know best.

It is our pleasure to highlight one of those funders here! Read on for a Q&A with Horizon Bank Market President Janet Pasco.

Q: What is your role at Horizon Bank?
A: I am the Market President for the Metro Detroit area. We offer full-service banking from our new location in Troy, MI with a focus on commercial lending.

Q: How did you learn about the Bridge Builders Microgrants program?
A: I was very fortunate to be invited onto the Michigan Municipal League Foundation’s program committee which supports programmatic work across Michigan. I learned about the Bridge Builders program through that role and knew that it was a great opportunity for Horizon Bank.

Q: Tell us a little bit about Horizon Bank and its values.
A: Horizon Bank is a community bank, proudly serving and investing in Michigan communities. We offer both personal and business account services along with wealth management including retirement accounts and investment management. We work hard to build relationships in each community we serve and are honored to support both community and statewide programs that lift up Michiganders and their hometowns.

Our goal is to develop life-long relationships with our clients no matter how big or small they may be.  We actively seek to offer “sensible advice” in the day-to-day process of working with our clients so that we offer true value.

Q: What makes the Bridge Builders Microgrants program so special to Horizon Bank?
A: Many of our advisors are involved in their communities and share stories about the great things happening in downtowns and neighborhoods across the state. Our team serves in many volunteer organizations include “Handlebars for the Homeless”, The Salvation Army, Leaderdog for Blind and Detroit Blight Busters. We want to support these initiatives and give back at the local level while having a statewide impact. Bridge Builders is really special to us because it allows us to do just that.
