Project Location:

Glenside Neighborhood, Muskegon, MI

Briefly Describe Your Project Idea:

Is it a project or event? Project
What will you do? Work alongside a local mural artist, neighborhood youth, recreation enthusiasts, and park lovers to design and paint a mural that represents the art and recreation opportunities that community members from around Muskegon and beyond enjoy at McGraft Park.
Where will you do it? McGraft Park Bandshell
Who, if any, are your project partners? Jube Mural Artist, City of Muskegon, neighbors and local businesses

Why does your community need this project?

The Glenside Neighborhood is the home to McGraft Park. This is our only neighborhood park and is the living hub of our community. It is a welcoming park that attracts visitors from several neighborhoods for various events.. . .

What do you hope to achieve through this project?

Continued from questions above: Over the past 20+ years the City of Muskegon’s Parks have been underfunded and is now in the process of updating the Parks & Recreation Master Plan to include major renovations such as reopening restrooms and updating playgrounds. We hope that in collaboration with the Parks & Recreation Master Plan this community interest project will bring new life to the bandshell and in return bring more and more community members to the park as it continues to improve.

With the mural on the bandshell we hope to bring art to McGraft Park that will extend the cultural experience in Glenside.
